Beachmount, as mentioned in Scandalous Behaviour, was surveyed in 1842 and is situated 6km south of Inkerman.
No one can say for definite exactly when people started to construct down there, but houses and huts have been gradually appearing since at least that date.
The fishing, the flora, the fauna, the beach, the Aboriginal middens and the houses built on huge granite boulders are what lured people there, allowing them to escape the restrictions so commonly found in Victorian era households.
Jennie, the heroine from Scandalous Behaviour, found such freedoms when she travelled to Beachmount. Somehow I think there were some actual people from history who might have indulged in the same lifestyle she so craved for in such a beautiful part of Queensland.
