What a year…

I’ve thought about how to write this a hundred times and still I’m sitting here staring at my keyboard. Ridiculous isn’t it? I’m an author so I’m supposed to always have the right words at the right time. Anyone who actually knows me knows I often stumble over my words, say the wrong thing and swear way too much…and go way off topic as I’m doing now.

I guess the appropriate thing would be to sum up the year.

Kids have kept me busy – eldest is in his second term of civil engineering and so far so good; second eldest threw us a curve ball and got elected high school captain for next year; third learned the hard way that some people just aren’t right for you and that it’s ok to be you; fourth did her first year of high school; and youngest got elected sports captain for next year.

August was a doozy – mum had a couple of falls and ended up in hospital. Long story short, she’s been living with us since September with me as her primary carer. I’ve learned a lot about how the human body and mind works, both hers and mine. Most importantly I learned the joy of making memories that I will treasure forever.

Have I done much writing – not really, but thankfully I have plenty of finished stories in storage that just need to be tweaked. I usually aim for one to be released every block of school holidays, but I guess I’ll have to see what next year brings.

On the authoring note – I’ve sold a few books, had a few KU reads, and even got a descent review. I won’t be retiring any time soon, but that’s ok too.

So that’s it for this year. Stay safe and enjoy the holidays, and hold the ones you love tightly because you never know when they’ll be taken away from you xx
